Putting the spotlight on the man behind the GyroGlove
For Dr. Joon Faii Ong, there certainly is a personal connection between him and his desire to develop a tremor-reducing glove for Parkinson’s patients. Caring for his patients as a trainee doctor, he promised himself to develop the GyroGlove, which is now set to make a massive impact on possibly millions of individuals who suffer from hand tremors.
Dr. Faii Ong’s desire to develop a device that carries the potential to provide people with Parkinson’s a chance to regain confidence in their hands started when he met a 103-year-old woman in a hospital living under the care of their medical firm. Upon seeing the lady struggle with her soup and eventually causing half of it to drip down to her front, he spoke with the nurses and learned that the lady suffered from Alzheimer’s and had bad hand tremors. He believed that if he truly cared for his patients, he would find a solution to the problem.
GyroGear, led by Founder and CEO Dr. Joon Faii Ong, is the company behind the GyroGlove. The GyroGear team’s effort won the inaugural F Factor Award launched by Simon Cowell, X Factor judge, and the Founders Forum. It received £10,000 to help turn the GyroGlove idea into a solid, tangible solution.
The GyroGear team felt incredibly grateful and overjoyed to have won the inaugural championship. For those behind the winning innovation, the elegance and simplicity of the GyroGlove partnered with the possible influence, and real-world application were the qualities that captured and won the judges’ attention.
Dr. Joon Faii Ong finished his medical degree from Imperial College London. He is Founder and CEO of GyroGear Ltd. and the inventor of the GyroGlove. Visit this page for similar reads.
